The
Duchess of Gloucester has today officially opened
the Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
The official opening took place at the Queen’s Medical Centre and included a meeting with young patients, their families/carers and staff.
Children’s services moved under one roof at QMC in 2009 and one year later, has been officially opened by the Duchess of Gloucester with a commemorative plaque unveiled.
Accompanied by Angela Horsley, Clinical Lead for the Nottingham Children’s Hospital and Dr Jonathan Evans, Clinical Director for Family Health, Peter Homa, Chief Executive, Trust Chairman, Dr Peter Barrett and Trish Cargill, Chair of the Trust’s Patient Partnership Group, the Duchess of Gloucester was today given a tour of the Nottingham Children’s Hospital. This included a visit to Ward E17, the children’s nephrology and urology ward, including haemodialysis, followed by a trip to the Hospital School and Youth Room. The tour also included a visit to the Trent Local Children’s Research Network offices.
Moving to D Floor to unveil the plaque, the Duchess viewed some of the new artwork that has been installed in the Nottingham Children’s Hospital thanks to some partnership working with local artists and school children.
Angela Horsley, Clinical Lead for the Nottingham Children’s Hospital, said: "This has been a fantastic year for the Nottingham Children’s Hospital. We are honoured that the Duchess of Gloucester kindly agreed to formally open the Children's Hospital here in Nottingham. It was a memorable occasion for everyone associated with the Nottingham Children’s Hospital.”
