Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) service

The Nottingham Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) Service treats patients with diseases of the pancreas, bile duct, gall bladder and the liver.

The Nottingham HPB Service is both a local and regional tertiary referral centre for all aspects of HPB disease and we are a centre of excellence for laparoscopic (keyhole) HPB surgery.

We serve the East Midlands Cancer Network and cover a catchment area of over two million people in Nottingham, Mansfield, Lincoln, Boston, Grantham, Derby and beyond.

Clinics

The HPB clinic is held on Thursdays at the Nottingham Treatment Centre at QMC, where all patients with a new cancer or suspected cancer diagnosis are seen.

These patients are seen within a week of receiving the referral. There are also weekly HPB outreach clinics at Lincoln County Hospital every Monday.

The HPB team has four other clinics per week to see patients with benign (non-cancerous) conditions and follow-up patients.

Research

We are passionate about offering our patients the latest available treatments. Our portfolio of clinical research includes the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, which is providing world-leading research into some of the most common diseases including gastroenterology and liver disorders.
