Clinical Tissue Laboratory

The Clinical Tissue Laboratory (CTL) is a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility purpose-built for the processing and storage of human tissues and/or cells for therapeutic use.

The unit is part of the Pathology Department of Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust and it is available for third-party use by different NUH Departments, NHS Trusts, universities or private companies who would need to carry out work in a cleanroom environment but do not have their own facilities.

The CTL has initially held a HTA (Human Tissue Authority) licence. The unit is currently being upgraded and may provide the conditions for work under the remit of the HTA, MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) and/or HFEA (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority), depending on the requests/needs of third parties interested in using the facilities.
