Why quit?

Time for a “quit chat”

As well as supporting staff to stop smoking, we want to encourage patients to stop. We’re offering training for staff to give staff the skills to offer smoking cessation advice to patients they come across during their working day (called a ‘brief intervention’). Those who are trained will then be expected to cascade the message in their area and ensure these ‘Quit Chats’ are taking place. Some areas have already had access to this training and feedback has been really excellent. Sessions last one hour and each ward/area is being asked to have at least one representative who has been trained.

To book a training place – please contact Jennifer Guiver, Directorate HR Manager on x76126 or Jennifer.guiver@nuh.nhs.uk.

Smoke free homes

NHS CityCare is encouraging people to make their homes and cars smoke-free zones, to protect the health of those living and visiting there – particularly babies and children.
