NEW for Autumn 2011: NUH Cycle Map
Sustrans, in conjunction with Cycle City Guides, NUH and The Big Wheel, have produced a cycle map solely for NUH staff. The cycle map shows routes between QMC and City (vice versa) and QMC and Ropewalk, as well as showing how to get to the city centre from Hospital sites.
Please click here to view the map.
On the reverse of the map we have included all the information you will ever need to know about cycling to work whilst at NUH. We've also included site maps to show you where you can park your bike securely and take a shower or get changed.
If you have any comments or thoughts on the map please email us at cycling@nuh.nhs.uk.
Nottingham City Council's new cycle map is now available. Free copies can be collected from a variety of locations including the NUH Health & Wellbeing office at Curie Court (call ext 64771 first), libraries, leisure centres and the Tourism Information Office. The City Council would also be happy to send you one out - please email transport.strategy@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or call 0115 876 3942 with your details.
You can see the map and find out more information on the City Council website at http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/cycling.
Nottingham is the latest partner in the Department for
Transport’s Transport Direct cycle journey planner. In a similar way
to urban walking planner,
www.walkit.com,
the cycle journey planner allows bespoke journeys in selected areas
of the country to be plotted online – you can even tailor your
journey so you pick the quietest, quickest or most recreational
route!

Sustrans also provides an online mapping service so you can plan rides further afield as well.
NUH is well served by good cycle paths linking into all three hospital sites. If you would like personalised advice on how best to get from a to b then send an email to cycling@nuh.nhs.uk and we will do our very best to provide you with all the support and guidance you require.
At NUH, a Bike Buddy scheme is currently running and there are a dozen of very enthusiastic, friendly and experienced cyclists who are willing to help you to get to work by bicycle. Support is on offer through provision of advice, tips or even riding with you too and from your place of residence/work.
