Cycling at NUH

Are you a regular, novice or returning cyclist? Ucycle Nottingham and NUHactive are here to support you. Every day more and more people get into the saddle and navigate around Nottingham on their bike.

It’s quick, easy, cost efficient and it’s great for your health and wellbeing.

If you are a new or current member of staff, then you will be glad to know that Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), is committed to providing excellent cycle facilities for all staff that travel to work by bicycle.

Across the three sites of NUH, you will find a mixture of bicycle parking, shower and changing facilities. Below you will find details/maps of facilities at each site.

QMC campus

Various free standing parking spaces are available around QMC. The three secure compounds are very popular with staff. There is one in the Undercroft (consultants) car park which caters for around 100 bikes (located down the stairs from the School of Nursing entrance). There is a cycle compound in the Goods Yard (to the left of EENT main entrance) which caters for around 150 bikes. Finally, there is also a secure bike compound near MRI/West Block.

Swipe card access is required, contact Access Control (ext 63365) to acquire this.

There are showering and changing facilities on A and D floor South block. Email cycling@nuh.nhs.uk or phone extension 64771 for more information.

City Hospital campus

There are free standing spaces across the site, please see this map of City Hospital to view exact locations.

There is also a secure compound (by N8 corridor) and a new secure cycle compound behind Cityside Restaurant.

Additionally, there are around 100 individual secure lockers. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis for three month blocks. Please contact cycling@nuh.nhs.uk for more details about acquiring a locker.

Ropewalk House

There are a few cycle racks outside the main entrance and a secure cycle compound in the goods yard to the rear of the building. Speak to the porters for details about access.
