Introduction
Nottingham University Hospitals
NHS Trust is looking to the future. We are proud
of the reputation we have established and the
central role we play as a provider of high
quality healthcare in Nottingham and beyond. Now
we want to take healthcare, teaching and
research to a new level for all our patients,
partners and staff.
We have a clear vision of our future. Quite
simply, we want to be the best in the country.
We want to build on our achievements as a high
performing, forward-thinking organisation,
providing easily accessible, quality healthcare
to people in greater Nottingham, the East
Midlands and beyond.
We have recently celebrated 60
years of the National Health Service. The next
step is for us to achieve NHS Foundation Trust
status. We believe that this will help us to
harness the commitment, passion and hard work of
all our staff, volunteers and partners. It will
also provide our patients and the wider public
with greater opportunities to be more involved
in their local NHS.
NHS Foundation Trusts are a new
type of NHS organisation with commitment to NHS
standards of care and service. As an NHS
Foundation Trust we will provide local people
with a stronger voice. The general public,
patients, carers and staff can all become
members of the Trust, stand for election as its
Governors and have a real say in how it is run.
We ran a public consultation on
our proposals to become an NHS Foundation Trust
which closed on Wednesday 13 May, 2009, and we
will shortly be able to update you on the
outcome of that consultation. In the meantime,
we would encourage you to find out more about
our membership proposals and consider how you
can get involved in helping shape our future.
Best wishes,
