Paediatric Nephrologists (Children’s Kidney Doctors). There is a “consultant of the week” and so you may be looked
after by Dr Martin Christian, Dr Jonathan Evans, Dr Farida Hussain, Dr Meeta
Mallik or Prof Alan Watson as well as junior doctors.
If your child requires long-term care this will be under the
supervision of one of the consultants via the clinic in
Nottingham or possibly nearer your home.
Nursing staff are coordinated by Shelley Jepson, Senior Nurse and include
Ward E17 staff. Specialist Nurses are involved in dialysis, transplantation,
urology, community care, teaching and support at home. Nurses in the Children & Young Peoples Clinic.
Dietitians – Pearl Pugh provides education and
advice about diet matters.
Social Workers – Suzanne Batte and Heidi Steward are paediatric renal social
workers who may be involved in helping you with support, both emotionally and
financially, if your child is ill for some time.
Play Specialists – Claire Hardy and other play specialists prepare children for a number
of procedures.
Clinical Psychologist – Dot Mackinlay provides support to the unit.
Schoolteachers led by Julie Overend.
Youth Worker - Donna Hilton coordinates youth work support for young people
from 11 years upwards.
Surgeons - Mr Manoj Shenoy or Mr Alun Williams are the paediatric urologists
supported by Mr Mike Bishop, adult urology surgeon. For those children who need kidney transplantation then the
transplant team are Mr Magdi Shehata, Mr Keith Rigg, Mr Owen Cole and Mr Mohamed El-Sheikh.
