Equality and Diversity

The Trust has a determination to be the best acute teaching trust. We are clear that this can only be achieved through ensuring meaningful access to our services and making the very best use of the diverse talents available to us and our patients.

Equality and human rights for the Trust means therefore that all staff, patients and carers, and stakeholders-:

  • Are committed to equality of opportunity, treatment and behaviour
  • Have equal access to employment, promotion, and development
  • Have equal access to services
  • Have their needs considered as we develop services

We are committed to ensuring that we are mainstreaming equality and human rights within the organisation:

We will work with staff and patients, and their representatives, to promote equality within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Equality and human rights will be embedded in the Trust business planning process

Equality and Human Rights will be fully considered within our Governance structures.

Staff objectives, job descriptions and use of the Knowledge and Skills Framework will be used to ensure that equality and human rights are part of the personal development of all staff

We will be proactive in developing new services and ways of working that take into account the needs of all groups who make up the communities we serve.
