We are raising £50,000 a year for breast cancer research
Nottingham Hospitals Charity has launched a new appeal to raise
£50,000 a year for breast cancer research in Nottingham.
One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every ten minutes in
the UK, and Nottingham Hospitals Charity wants to raise money for
research which aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the
disease - and ultimately save lives.
The Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Appeal will fund the trial
and delivery of new treatments to breast cancer patients at
Nottingham's hospitals, not only providing the best possible care
for local patients, but also putting the hospital and the city on

Jane Riley, a breast cancer survivor who was treated at
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "I am one of the

disease, not just locally but nationally."
Dr Stephen Chan, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at NUH, is
leading the research. He said: "Nottingham University Hospitals NHS
Trust's Breast Research Group is well placed to deliver state of
the art treatment to our breast cancer patients, as well as
discovering new treatment options, and we need to raise money to
enable us to carry out this research.
"The donations will enable our patients to take part in studies
and trials, and enable scientists to further improve and refine
these new treatments based on the results for our own patients.
This will also help to discover new treatments, hopefully including
