Record year for hospital staff award nominations

Record year for hospital staff award nominations

Nominees have been announced in the search for Nottingham's hospital heroes.

More than 600 nominations have been received for this year's NUHonours Awards, a record since the awards was launched in 2007. Hundreds of patients, visitors and staff have taken time to nominate a team or member of staff they feel has 'gone the extra mile' in their daily work to help improve the experiences of patients and staff.

Peter Homa, Chief Executive of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), said: "I am delighted to hear we have received a record number of nominations for this year's awards. This demonstrates just how much our patients and public appreciate our hard working, dedicated and caring staff and volunteers as well as the valued contributions from our members of fundraisers."

Now in their sixth year, the awards recognise the extra effort people make to care for patients at NUH.

As well as awards for different clinical specialties at NUH, there is also an award for volunteers, fundraisers, and partnership working - plus an award to recognise our 14,000 public members who have made an outstanding contribution to the Trust in the past year.

NUHonours 2012 is possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of our own Nottingham Hospitals Charity, which is working in partnership with the Trust.

Judging will take place throughout October, with the awards evening taking place on Friday 16 November 2012 at the East Midlands Conference Centre.
