  • Releasing Time to Care (Productive Ward) won the ‘Learning for Improvement’ Award in the regional Health & Social Care Award 2009.
  • The City Hospital campus Catering Department was awarded a Bronze Standard Food for Life Catering Mark from the Soil Association in February 2009.
  • Junior Doctors Mess at the Queen’s Medical Centre campus was voted the ‘greenest doctors’ mess in the country in a competition organised by the Campaign for Greener Healthcare, Doctors.net.uk and BMA News.

  • ‘Low Carbon’ Award’ in the regional Health & Social Care Awards 2009.
  • ‘Green Transport’ Award in the Health Business Awards 2008.
  • ‘Good Corporate Citizenship’ category in the 2008 HSJ Awards.

Maxillofacial team

  • Declared overall winners in the Smile Awards 2008.
  • ‘Facial reconstruction’ category in the Smile Awards 2008.

  • National Clubs for Young People 'Youth Club Award for Healthy Living' 2008 
    Young People’s Service Award 2008 in the category ‘Youth Work’
  • A team of eye specialists won the 2008 Allergan Glaucoma Achievement Award, a prestigious national award, for delivering one of the best services in the country to patients with glaucoma.

 Individual awards

  • Pat Clarke, Diabetes Nurse Specialist won the Nottinghamshire Outstanding Care Award in the NHS East Midlands awards 2009.
  • Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr John Stokes with support from NHS Innovations East Midlands won a NHS Innovations Award in the category Medical Devices.
  • Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr John Stokes with support from NHS Innovations East Midlands won a Welcome Translational Award.
